BHS Fall Developmental Ice

The biggest factors for U6 and U8 player development are getting lots of reps in a fun environment and having low-cost, local access to ice time.

Our Fall Developmental Ice is designed to achieve both.

We have a 12-week program designed for U6 and U8 players where we split the ice each session by age:

• U6 players:
• unstructured pond hockey "shinny" games
• designed to deliver unlimited reps
• 100:0 work:rest ratio
• skaters only take breaks when they need one - otherwise we want them skating and having fun!
• U8 players:
• cross-ice 4v4 games
• designed to deliver 50:50 work rest ratio (2-minute whistle shifts)
• players encouraged to play creatively and "learn the game through play"

The program takes place on Fridays at 4:10PM at the Breakaway Ice Center in Tewksbury on the following Fridays this fall:

Sept 18 & 25

Oct 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30

Nov 6, 13 & 20

Dec 4 & 11

We also allow coach volunteers (and older player mentors) to hop on the ice and help out if they would like.
