BHS Spring League
When it comes to off-season development...having the proper environment is essential. We've designed a complete "Community Model" off-season program that allows kids of all ages and abilities to THRIVE.
What does Community Hockey look like in the off-season?
- It prioritizes rest/recovery.
- It emphasizes playing local hockey at the lowest cost possible to keep as many players in the game as possible.
- It embraces kids having time to play other sports, do strength and conditioning, and "be a kid"
- It has fluid rosters that are designed to result in close, competitive games.
- It lets ALL kids play against each other, learn from each other, and benefit from the best coaching resources possible.
- It blends ages across a larger cross-section than typical town/club travel teams, letting kids "play up" and "play down" and make far more friendships at the rink.
- It follows other community models that are well-established in Minnesota and Nordic Countries
We have a Spring League that runs from late April - Jun and is focused on Learn to Play through Peewees. Our Spring League has options for older kids to register as "player/mentors" and gain leadership experience as well as get free ice time.
We will also be rolling out a comprehensive Summer "Development Program" (registration to open in early 2026) that is designed for players of all ages.

Coaches who wish to volunteer on ice when they are at the rink may use a "Minnesota DIBS" discount of $100 on their player registration. Those coaches will also receive a FREE Boston Hockey Skills Coaching Hoodie to wear on ice.
How do "Minnesota DIBS" work?
The core of Community Model hockey is an engaged and passionate base of volunteers. This is also how Community Model hockey is able to deliver programming so cost-effectively.
The norm in Minnesota is to reward key volunteers with a system called "DIBS". We are adopting this approach.
So - for any coaches who want to volunteer on ice when they are at the rink, they may use a "Minnesota DIBS" discount of $50 on their player registration. Those coaches will also receive a FREE Boston Hockey Skills Coaching Hoodie to wear on ice.
